How embeds work on Wix
Wix doesn't let you paste code straight into a page. Instead, you add an Embed HTML element, and Wix runs your code inside that element's own frame.
That has two practical effects:
- You decide the size. The player can't make the box grow on its own, so you drag the element to the height you want. Make it tall enough for your latest uploads; visitors can scroll inside it for the rest.
- The player stays in its box. ShowHub's floating sticky player, which pins to the corner of the screen on other website builders, can't escape a Wix frame. On Wix you get the in-page player.
Neither is a problem once you know about it.
Step by step
Copy your snippet from Dashboard → Embed in ShowHub:
<script
src="https://showhubco.com/embed.js"
data-podcast-id="YOUR_PODCAST_ID"
data-theme="auto"
></script>The pink part is your ShowHub ID. Get yours free in about a minute or preview your show first.
data-podcast-id is your ShowHub workspace ID. The snippet is the same whether you connected a YouTube channel, a TikTok account, a Twitch channel or a podcast.
Then in the Wix Editor:
- Go to the page where your work should appear.
- Click Add Elements (the + on the left), then Embed Code, then Embed HTML.
- In the element's settings, choose Code (not Website address) and paste the snippet. Click Update.
- Drag the element's handles to make it wide and tall enough. Around 600 to 800 pixels tall works for most channels.
- Click Publish, then open the live site.
The names of these menus shift a little between the classic Wix Editor and Wix Studio, but both have an Embed HTML or Custom Embed element that does the same job.
Check mobile separately
Wix keeps a separate layout for phones. After publishing, switch the Editor to mobile view (the phone icon at the top) and check the player's box. If it's cropped, make it taller in the mobile view only. Your desktop layout won't change.
Pick a theme that fits
data-theme takes light, dark or auto. Most Wix templates are light, so light is usually the safe choice. Use auto if your visitors might be on dark mode and your design handles both.
Beyond one page
The player puts your catalog on one Wix page. If you'd like each video or episode to have its own page that search engines can index, ShowHub can host those pages on a subdomain of your site like watch.yoursite.com, with transcripts, on the Pro plan. Link to it from your Wix menu and both sites work together.
